Snowmobile Insurance
Frequently Asked Questions
- How can I get a snowmobile insurance quote from
www.sledinsure.com?
You can get your information by calling our friendly insurance
professionals toll free at 1-800-562-6036. We are a subsidiary of First Credit
Corporation located in Gloversville, NY in the southern Adirondack Mountains
of upstate New York.
- In what states does SledInsure write coverage for
snowmobiles?
Our coverage area includes
Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut , Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan , Minnesota, Montana , New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont, Wisconsin, Wyoming.
- If I live in another
state but mostly use my snowmobile in SledInsure’s
coverage area, can I still get coverage?
Yes, if you live in another
state we can insure your snowmobile provided it is
mostly used in either: AK, CO, CT, ID, IA, ME, MA, MI, MN, MT, NH, NJ, NY, ND, OH, PA, RI, UT, VT, WI, WY. Example:
Someone living in New Jersey who trailers their sled
to New York can get a policy from SledInsure.com.
- If someone totals my new snowmobile before I have
coverage will his homeowners' insurance cover
it?
No, snowmobiles are not covered
on homeowners'
policies.
- Why do I need snowmobile insurance?
Insurance for snowmobiles is
a must. It is generally inexpensive and homeowners'
policies exclude liability and property damage caused
by snowmobiles. If you injure someone with your snowmobile
your homeowners' policy will not defend you or pay
the claimant’s
damages.
- What is the difference between collision and comprehensive
coverage?
Collision covers accidental loss or damage to your snowmobile
because of a collision with an object or another snowmobile
or if your snowmobile is damaged if it rolls over. Comprehensive
covers anything other than a collision loss. Examples
of comprehensive losses that are covered include: vandalism,
theft, fire, explosion, water or flood, contact with
birds or animals, damage from falling objects.
- Do I need to insure my snowmobile trailer or is
that covered on my auto insurance policy?
Damage to your trailer is not covered by your auto
policy. We can usually add comprehensive and collision
damage for your snowmobile trailer for as little as
$10 per year when you fully insure at least one snowmobile.
- Does my snowmobile
insurance cover me if I ride in other states or Canada?
Your policy automatically adjusts
to meet other states’ minimum
coverage requirements. Your coverage also extends to
Canada.
- Do I need special proof of insurance if I bring
my sled to Canada?
Yes, SledInsure.com will issue you a Canada Non-Resident
Inter-Province Motor Vehicle Liability Insurance Card.
- What discounts can I receive to save money on
my premium?
Discounts can add up quickly. Discounts include: two
or more snowmobiles on one policy, snowmobile club
membership, renewing your policy with us, completing
a snowmobile safety course.
- Is there a lay-up period on the insurance policy?
Yes, in most of our states, the premium is discounted for a lay-up period
from April 15th through October 15th for liability,
uninsured motorist and collision. If the covered
snowmobile is being operated on snow or ice between
these dates, then the lapse in coverage does not
apply. The lay-up period does not apply to comprehensive
coverage.
